There are three distinct methods for loading your cargo into a shipping
container at a port, prior to delivery.
Live Load
Live loading your cargo into a shipping container means that Limco Logistics
will arrange to have the container delivered to you, and you will then proceed
to load the cargo into it yourself. You will usually have two to three hours of
loading time, while the container delivery driver waits. Once your cargo is
loaded into the shipping container, it will be delivered to port, and straight
onto an ocean freighter.
Drop Off
Drop off service is when we arrange to have the shipping container dropped off
to you at a time of your choosing, and then you have as many days as you require
to load the cargo yourself. This differs from Live Load in that there will not
be a driver waiting on standby to deliver the container once you have loaded it.
Warehouse/Terminal Loading
This method is fairly straightforward. Limco arranges to have your cargo loaded
into its container
at the terminal or port. You may be responsible for getting your cargo to port,
but from there Limco will arrange to have it packed into the container for you.
Tips For Shipping House Wares And Personal Items
Shipping
overseas, whatever the purpose, can be a daunting, exhausting task. Limco
will help you manage
your shipment from start to finish. Here are some valuable tips to help you
pack and load your cargo for delivery, especially if they are items of a
personal nature.
Be sure to pack everything securely in boxes. Corrugated cardboard is good for
this. Wrap delicate and fragile items in newspaper or bubble wrap to ensure that
they do not chip, chink, tear or break during delivery. If you have a lot of
boxes in your shipment, consider using pallets, and shrink wrapping entire
portions of your delivery together for safe keeping. Use heavy plastic sheeting
to cover large pieces of furniture and any electronics or appliances.
From there, you will need to decide if you need a 20
foot container or a ;40
foot container. 20 foot containers have 1,050 cubic feet of interior
capacity, and are perfect for shipping the furnishings of a one to two bedroom
house. A 40 foot container has 2,200 cubic feet of interior space and can
accommodate the furnishings of a four to five bedroom house.
